How do you build good relationships in your Real Estate business? Relationships of all kinds are often perceived as very delicate things that require extra effort to maintain. However, a relationship can provide security and be long-lasting, despite many trials.
Building effective and lasting relationships in business is a necessity for several reasons. For example in Real Estate; the well-being of the people depends on how effective that organization works. The Real Estate groups success is also dependent on how the agents work well with the clients.
Building effective Real Estate business relationships is a role every agent has to play to remain relevant in the industry. The danger in becoming irrelevant is you become useless and thus, ineffective. And I think we all know what ineffectiveness leads to…..the unemployment line.
So, we have 3 simple tips to building effective relationships in the Real Estate industry.
How to build Effective Relationships in Real Estate
Understanding is the fundamental key to creating good relationships in the Real Estate industry. Understanding the other parties’ feeling and position creates an effective relationship. The easiest method to understand what is important to another party is to ask them what they want and listen to what they have to say. When the other party realizes you are listening, they will feel important and open up more. This will lead to a stronger bond in the relationship, because it creates trust.
Effective relationships require people to openly express their feelings and positions on all matters pertinent to the business relationship.
2. Respect Others
Respect is the key to good relationships. In order to build a more effective relationship, parties should treat each other with respect. You can show respect just by listening to the other party and by sincerely trying to understand how they think, work or process information. You can also show respect to other parties by confirming that they are doing everything within their power to achieve the common goal. Respect is the very foundation of a great relationship.
3. Be Open
Another key area in forming an effective relationship is to share yourself along with your knowledge. Our society believes that personal and business do not mix. And although this is true to some extent, there is value in humanizing yourself. One of the most successful clients at Exodus Marketing, Josh Mettle, uses this method when writing his newsletter updates to his clients. He shares personal, home-front, information with all of his clients to build a solid, friendship-based, relationship with them. And they keep coming back to him for all of their Real Estate needs. Why? Because they know him and his family. He isn’t a distant memory…. “You know? That guy that we bought a house from that one time. Who was he again?” No. He is a real person.
To build a stronger relationship, you must be open. Don’t be afraid to let people in.
